Date Night at the Queen Creek Olive Mill

We attended “Date Night” at the Queen Creek Olive Mill during the month of October. These are held on the second Tuesday of each month and it was an evening well spent! Space is limited, so when the event hits their calendar and social media pages, you’ll want to call the number provided and make a reservation ASAP.

Wondering what happens at Date Night? Lots. A chef demonstrates the best way to stretch and toss dough to create the perfect pizza crust. Part of her demo includes making the dough and the sauce, but these are already prepared for you when you and your partner get ready to make your own pizzas. Recipe cards are provided as well so that you can repeat the process at home.

Along with this, premium wines are provided by Pillsbury Wine, one of Arizona’s best local wineries. I will have to say that I thought all three of the wines served were quite delicious and paired wonderfully with the food.

You can also purchase a glass (or a bottle from the shop) of wine to enjoy as well or a glass of beer.

During the demo, the first course is served which is a delightful, light salad served with One Night Stand Rosé.

Once you have learned how to make your pizza, it’s your turn to go to work! Everyone has their own workstation (6 people per table) where you stretch your dough, choose your sauce, and choose your toppings. Once complete, each pizza is given a number so that the chefs cooking the pizza can keep them all straight.

We attended Date Night with another couple, it was fun to catch up (and take selfies!) during the pizza making process. The Hubby was so proud of his creation – he even asked me to take a photo! My finished product is in the middle photo below. I topped it with Kalamata olives, Italian sausage, artichoke hearts, fresh mozzarella, shredded mozzarella, and of course a drizzle of Roasted Garlic Olive Oil.

While your pizza is cooking, you can shop the marketplace. As part of your evening, you can enjoy 10% off all Queen Creek Olive Mill products – bonus!

As the pizzas finish cooking, the number is called out and the chefs deliver them right to your table. The wine served with your pizza was Wild Child Red. I have to tell you, this is probably one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. They were pretty big, so we were happy to take 1/2 of each of ours home to enjoy for lunch the next day.

For your final course, you have the opportunity to choose an olive oil cupcake, a pistachio cannoli, or a chocolate chip cannoli. I chose the pistachio cannoli – it was scrumptious and it paired perfectly with Malvasia Bonnie Lee.

If you are local to the area, this is a night I would highly recommend. You can view the calendar of QCOM events here. Cheers!
