On May 6, we hosted our 3rd annual Kentucky Derby Party and this year’s theme was “Jockeys & Juleps”. The afternoon consists of fancy hats, dressing up, watching the races, eating, socializing with friends, and day drinking – what’s not to love?
Here is an image of our “save the date”, the invitation was the same style, only with more details about time, location, etc.
As I have for the past couple of years, I prepare and serve all of the food instead of asking guests to bring a dish to share. The menu doesn’t change much year to year as we feel as though it is a successful “rinse and repeat”! Follow these links to view the details and images from the 2021 and 2022 parties.
Once again, the guests did not disappoint with their outfits! We maintained the tradition of voting for the best dressed with the following categories: Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed Gent, Best Hat, Best Bow Tie, and Best Dressed Couple.
My awesome friend Dave Abercrombie once again did a fantastic job of coming up with a couple of betting games in which we could all participate – we had several guests with cash in hand at the end of the race!
The faux boxwood hedge wall that was rented in prior years was a DIY project this year! A HUGE shout out to our friend Holly who was visiting from Seattle and OF COURSE The Hubby for helping with the assembly and the balloon arch! Who knew you could buy so many balloons and create a large balloon garland on Amazon for a mere $16.99?
Below are images from this year’s Derby Party – mostly of our fabulously dressed guests! Until next year!
