During our recent 4 night cruise on the Disney Dream, we were fortunate enough to visit Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. At the Family Beach, there are 21 cabanas to rent and at Serenity Bay, the adults only beach, there are 4. Yes, this an exclusive add on to your Disney cruise. They go fast and Concierge Guests have first dibs on these. They aren’t cheap – running $549 at the Family Beach for six guests – but in my opinion, totally worth it! When you visit Castaway Cay, your lunch is included. It is certainly nice to sit in a private cabana to enjoy your lunch vs. the pavilion with everyone else from the ship! The other cool feature? There is a button you can push and boom! A member of the Concierge Team shows up to assist! They ordered our drinks, arranged for a golf cart to take us back to the tram when we were done – it was awesome! In the cabana there was a safe, there were towels, sunscreen, snacks, and a fridge stocked with water and sodas.
Along with all of the amenities, the cabanas come with their own beach. The images below show the “public” Family Beach (above) and the cabana “private” Family Beach (below).

We took the boys down to the Pelican Plunge – a set of water slides sitting in the ocean. You swim out to them, climb up, and land right back in the ocean. Their comments? They were faster than expected!
Snorkeling equipment came with the cabana and my older son and I spent some time in the snorkeling lagoon while The Hubby was with the little one snorkeling around the private beach area. As I mentioned, when you rent the cabana, all of the other rental equipment is included. Otherwise you are looking at snorkeling equipment at $32 per person (ages 10 and up) and $16 per person (ages 5-9), float and tube rentals at $11 each, and bicycle rentals are $11 each.
For the most part, our boys spent the day on the beach. Towards the end of the day, they had the beach to themselves…
How did the adults wrap up their day? We chose to enjoy a bottle of Moet Ice….
